Baby Cream and Adult Skin: Comfort or Complete Skincare?

“My skin is perfectly suited to baby cream!” — this is a phrase I hear quite often from my adult clients.
And indeed, after applying it, the skin may feel soft, smooth and moisturised. But let’s take a slightly deeper look at this question. Is a cream created for children’s skin suitable for an adult’s skin?
Adult skin differs significantly from a child’s skin. Every day, it is exposed to environmental factors, stress, ultraviolet radiation, temperature changes and many other influences. With age, the skin’s renewal processes, moisture levels, collagen production and the condition of its protective barrier also change.
Therefore, adult skin may have completely different needs. For example, it may require quality hydration, support for the skin barrier, antioxidant protection, prevention of age-related changes, or care aimed at pigmentation or inflammation.
Baby cream may soften the skin very well and create a feeling of comfort. However, the feeling of “it suits me” does not always mean that the skin is receiving the complete care it specifically needs.
This does not mean that an adult should never use baby cream. Everything is individual and depends on the condition of the skin and the ingredients of a particular product. However, when choosing facial skincare, it is worth considering not only the pleasant feeling after application, but above all, the actual needs of the skin.
Perhaps your baby cream really does create a feeling of comfort on your face. Or perhaps your skin could simply benefit even more from properly selected skincare.
